They're here!

I heart them! It was so much fun watching the babies swim. The momma is the one looking down at her new family.

The family has moved on, they left 2 days after the babies came. They did the same thing last year. I look forward to seeing them next spring.

The ducklings are coming

A canadian geese has made a nest on the little island in our pond. She was here last year and left two days after the ducklings came. She's back this spring and has a lot of eggs. The ducklings should be here any day now!

Greenhouse Update

A few of you guys have asked how my seeds are doing. Well here are a few more pics. I ran out of room and had to put my lettuce in hanging pots : ) We planted a few things in the garden and around Mother's Day we plan on putting some of these seedlings in the ground.

Gardening

It was beautiful all weekend so I was in the yard for hours. I love this time of year I think it's when the garden looks it's best.

New Path

We put in a new path! We've wanted a path to the pond since we moved in. Before, it was just grass. The stone was found around the yard in random places such as around the base of trees. We moved them all to the front for an inviting path : ) We've been working in the yard the past 3 weekends and will be back at it on Sat. Byron took out all of the overgrown hedges in front. Now we just need to decided what we want in that space. Of coarse one project always leads to more. We'd like to paint all the shutters, paint or replace the railings and window boxes...

Seedlings

Here are a few pics from inside our greenhouse. I have a lot of vegetables started and some flowers too.

California

My twin sister and I spent 5 days in California last month. Since I've got back I've been slacking at posting to the blog. Here's a pic my sister took, it was a mistake but we both like it.

Spring Fever

Today was beautiful. The temperature was in the 50s. We spent the entire afternoon outside. I finished cleaning up the green house, cleaned the windows in the front of the house and then we checked out a park down the road. The park was small but nice and it has a nature center and a canoe launch area. Here's a pic of our front yard from last spring. I added a lot more bulb and am anxious to see green grass again.I'm so sick of the snow.

Euchre Tournament

We had a Euchre party this past weekend. It was great getting together with some friends we haven't seen in a while. I think this may be the beginning of a new tradition. Except next time we'll either start earlier or not do as many rounds! I don't think I've ever played cards for over 6 hours before!

Go Green in Spring!

This year we have a green house! I'm going to try planting some vegetables before the ground thaws out. I bought a book on greenhouses and have ordered my seed catalogs. But first I need to get organized. I have cleaned out the greenhouse but have a long way to go!

Tropical Tiki Bar

Here are some pics of the Tropical Tiki Bar in our basement. It's an ongoing project and has been sooo much fun.Byron finished the bar this weekend and we love it. I ordered some thatch roofing. We'll be adding that soon. More pics to come!

A huge Thanks to April and Ancil for the old shutters from their house. You guys need to get over here and help us break this thing in! And Judy, my new best friend, the bar wouldn't be complete without my Kenny picture. YEE HAW! I'm telling you the guy can't keep his eyes off of me!

Happy New Year!

We stayed home for New Year's Eve this year. We didn't want to be out on the road with all the crazies. Byron made his famous homemade pizzas and we watched the ball drop with our Latin Lovers (a new drink recipe).

My New Years Resolution this year is to try a new recipe every week for 2009. I think this will be a resolution I can keep : )
